History of DIET, Nabarangpur
DIET, Nabarangpur, has a rich legacy in teacher education, tracing its origins to April 1, 1948, when it was founded as a Basic Training School. Over time, the institution adapted to the growing educational demands of the region, transforming into the CT Secondary Training School on February 1, 1969, following directives from the Government of Orissa Education Department (Letter No. IX E/B-S-126/68-2858, dated February 5, 1969) and the Director of Public Institution Schools (Letter No. 5114, dated June 21, 1969). This transition enabled the institution to provide secondary-level teacher training, further strengthening its impact in the field of education. A significant milestone came in 2005, when DIET, Nabarangpur, was officially upgraded to a District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) through Notification No. XII(SME Trg 28/03-10701/SME, dated May 25, 2005). This elevation marked a new chapter in its journey, reinforcing its position as a premier institution for teacher education and professional development.
Situated in the historically and culturally rich district of Nabarangpur, DIET continues to draw inspiration from its surroundings. Once a part of the ancient Koraput District, Nabarangpur has deep-rooted connections to the Solar Dynasty of Jeypore, and its unique blend of tribal and Odia traditions has shaped the institution’s values and mission. DIET, Nabarangpur, stands as a center for excellence, dedicated to nurturing compassionate, skilled, and forward-thinking educators. Today, it remains committed to empowering teachers with the knowledge and tools necessary to shape a brighter future for students and contribute to India’s educational landscape.
